Purpose: The Blank Wall Project is an on-going effort led by the Claremont Village Marketing Group (CVMG) to increase the number of murals and other public art within the Village  business district. 

Murals bring culture into the daily lives of residents and visitors, transforming bare walls into enduring beauty for generations to come. Public art serves to make Claremont an even more attractive destination point for visitors. 

Murals transform underutilized and drab spaces into lively and inspiring settings. More public art will foster a sense of place and generate wider investment in the city’s arts community. 

CVMG’s mission is to attract people to the Village—increasing public art makes our downtown more enticing and enjoyable.

Once a Blank Wall is identified and an agreement is made with the property owner, calls for artists' proposals will go out through CVMG’s social media channels, email contacts and website. Artists’ proposals should include a sketch of the concept, materials needed, a timeline estimate to complete and total cost estimate for paint, supplies, wall preparation, scaffolding or lift equipment, designs, and labor. 

This is a grassroots effort and we will need volunteers to help us spread the word about The Blank Wall Project. This includes sharing social media posts, reaching out to local media outlets, and connecting with  community organizations.

CVMG is gathering names and contact information from the community to create a data base of people who are interested in participating in the selection, installation and fundraising for the project. Email Kathryn Dunn at kathryndunn@claremontvillage.com for information.
